Behind Illuminated Footage Photography “IFP” goes Director of Photography | Gaffer | Editor | Sound Designer and Director Mario Dirkx hiding. Mario was educated at the Dutch Film Academy in Amsterdam. In the years that followed, he developed into a real centipede and all-rounder. On the technical side, he is an experienced setter, Camera Operator, Avid Media Composer and Davinci Resolve Editor and Sound Designer (ProTools). By combining this technical knowledge and skills with out of the box thinking and creativity, Mario manages to capture the essence of all his assignments. Whether it concerns a documentary, fictional film, commercial or corporate movie. The heart of Mario can be found in all of them. He himself describes his work as ‘painting with images’, where everything is possible, because what isn’t possible isn’t everything…

"Horse of Kings"
Fully funded by Mario himself, a four-man documentary crew went to Spain in the spring of 2010 for 11 days. Without a script and without a fixed plan, but with Juan Llamas Perdigo as guide, narrator and friend. Thanks to him, the crew came upon the most amazing locations, met fantastic people and were allowed to film backstage at several places that are normally closed for outsiders.

last journey? This is the question that visual artist Jos Dirix from Neer had when he was commissioned to make a bronze statue of Philips de Montmorency, better known as Philips, Count van Horne.
But who was this Philips? What drove him? What did he mean for the city of Weert? And how important was he to the Netherlands?
These are all questions that Jos should look for. To create the perfect image, you first have to go back to basics. This is the beginning of Jos' story in order to be able to create his image of Van Horne for eternity.
In the documentary we see the different stages of making the image. From the first sketches, the first draft of the image.
Many people do not know that Van Horne can also be seen as one of the founders of our country, in addition to William of Orange.
During Van Horne's journey, the beginning of the Eighty Years' War,
the iconoclasm, the horse markets in Weert, and his end in Brussels come to the fore. All elements that make for an extra exciting story.

Due to that and the fact that his father was into art and music, art was always around him. Since he was able to hold a pencil he has always been drawing which was the start of his passion for 2 dimensional art. Later he moved to the Netherlands, the birth country of his mother, where he started to study at Grafisch Lyceum, Rotterdam and St. Joost School of Art & Design, Breda.
